Goal: Support companies and governments in navigating global value chain disruption from COVID-19 and mega trends to successfully reconfigure and increase resilience in global value chains, delivering value to all stakeholders
Global value chains are undergoing profound changes and are confronted with disruptive forces – as the recent pandemic has demonstrated – with important implications for the manufacturing and production industry and for countries relying on it. Over the last years we developed a framework to anticipate the ongoing reconfiguration of Global Value Chains and mobilized the global manufacturing community to identify the best responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and to derive key long term imperatives for businesses and policy makers to future-proof value chains through new partnerships.
Moving forward, to navigate near-term uncertainty and strengthen competitive advantage in the long term, resilience and a mindset of continuous adaptation are required. For that, have brought together Chief Operating and Supply Chain Officers from the manufacturing ecosystem and co-developed the Resiliency Compass, a framework to help organizations assess the resilience of their value chains and define the new priorities and actions needed to prepare for and respond to future disruption. Applying the compass on over 360 companies, we have derived five distinct and industry-agnostic profiles of companies who have adopted similar strategy sets to build resilience. The five profiles include the Collaborator, the Planner, the Enhancer, the Adapter, and the Provider and are used as the starting point for building resilience and to guide firms as they analyze their global value chains.
